The design team at XYI Design has transformed a 112㎡ space in Taipei into a captivating haven for a couple who share a passion for literature and music. The male owner's love for music and the female owner's affinity for books served as the foundation for this remarkable project.
The designers have skillfully incorporated the luster and scent of wood to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The space exudes a sense of tranquility and sophistication, reflecting the refined taste of its residents. Each room in the house is like a chapter in a book, seamlessly connected yet distinct in its own way.
The female owner's studio features a full-wall bookcase and a minimalist desk, emphasizing the purity of reading. The absence of unnecessary design elements allows the books to take center stage, inspiring all-night conversations and intellectual exploration. On the other hand, the male owner's workroom is designed to facilitate his music production work. The wood and pale wood-colored fabric wall coverings create a comfortable and inspiring environment, while the storage cubicles house his extensive collection of CDs and books.
One of the key challenges faced by the design team was the renovation of an older home with outdated plumbing and aluminum windows and doors. Extensive repairs were required to address water leakage and soundproofing issues. The team had to coordinate with the neighbors to minimize disruptions during the construction process.
The use of solid wood flooring throughout the house not only adds warmth and texture but also enhances the overall aesthetic. The owners enjoy the tactile experience of walking barefoot on the wooden floors, creating a sense of comfort and connection with their home.
XYI Design's innovative approach to this project earned them the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2018. This accolade recognizes their commitment to creating well-designed spaces that meet professional and industrial standards. The design seamlessly integrates the owners' personal preferences and provides a harmonious environment for them to live, work, and pursue their passions.
With its unique blend of wood and literature, the "Reading amidst the Scent of Wood" design by XYI Design offers a captivating space for book lovers to immerse themselves in their favorite pastime. The thoughtful integration of music and literature creates an atmosphere that inspires creativity and intellectual exploration. This design is a true testament to the power of personalized spaces and the impact they can have on our daily lives.
